The Credit Grantors Association of Vancouver believes strongly in Educating the Community about Consumer Credit. We also believe this has to start with bringing simple yet effective education programs to British Columbia’s high schools system.

GUEST SPEAKERS COME TO YOUR CLASSROOM

Since 1999, the association has available a large volunteer and complimentary speaker group in the Greater Vancouver area who are available to come to your classroom or school (by Invitation) and present to either Grade 10, 11 or 12 students on the importance of credit. The hour long presentation teaches in a fun and up beat presentation format on the wise and responsible use of credit – focusing on such topics as setting budgets, types of credit, credit reporting, safeguarding credit, collections, rights and responsibilities, disadvantages of bankruptcy and other related topics.

The association prides itself on having presented over 100 of these sessions since 1999. Some of the Greater Vancouver High Schools that have participated in these sessions include:

  Hugh Boyd Senior Secondary
  C.E. London Secondary
  Walnut Grove Secondary
  Terry Fox Senior Secondary
  Caribou Hill Secondary

The early years of credit life are crucial for building a strong credit foundation and we believe strongly in this initiative.

OVER $30,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO STUDENTS SINCE 1999

To emphasize to the students the importance of ones credit rating throughout your lifetime, and some of the consequences of becoming over indebted we also offer random draw scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 each year to Grade 12 students that have participated in our Credit Awareness guest speaker program – see scholarship program link for more details.

If our education program is of interest to you and your school, or you would like additional details, please contact us by email at education@creditgrantors.org or thru the CONTACT US section of the website.
